When you sit down with Bryan Heilman, it does not take long to realize that he is not in this work for the spreadsheets. He is in it for the people behind them, and that simple difference shapes every conversation he has with a client.
Bryan is a Wealth Advisor with FFA Wealth and a member of the Charleston Business Exchange, and his approach to financial planning reflects a kind of care that has become increasingly rare in his industry. The mission statement at FFA Wealth is straightforward, but the way Bryan lives it out goes a step further. He sees his role as simplifying the complexities of the financial world while also serving as a true advocate for the people who trust him with their goals, their dreams, and the hard-earned resources behind both.
Bryan did not begin his career in finance. He spent twenty years in retail leadership, and somewhere in the middle of that long chapter, he started doing something quietly powerful for the team members he was leading. He began offering basic financial wellness education to anyone on his team who wanted it, sharing the kind of practical guidance that most working adults never get from anyone, let alone their boss. The inspiration that came out of those conversations was simple, and it has stayed with him ever since.

That feeling, the one that came from being a small part of someone else’s progress, became impossible to ignore. About four years ago, he made the leap into the financial industry full time, and FFA Wealth became the place where he could combine the years of leadership experience he had built with the financial expertise he was passionate about developing.
Today, Bryan works most often with corporate professionals who are stepping out of the cubicle and into business ownership in the years before retirement. It is a season of life that holds a tremendous amount of opportunity, but it also comes with a long list of unknowns, and Bryan loves serving as the steady, well-informed voice in the room. He helps his clients ask better questions, see further down the road, and feel confident that the strategy in front of them actually reflects the life they are trying to build.
One of the most common misconceptions Bryan runs into is the assumption that all fiduciaries operate the same way. The reality, in his experience, is much more nuanced than the title alone suggests, and that nuance can have very real consequences for the people who walk into his office. His take on it is honest and to the point. “All Fiduciaries are not created equal. You have to ask the right questions to fully understand what type of profession you are working with, and more importantly, whether or not your interests always come first.

"All Fiduciaries are not created equal. You have to ask the right questions to fully understand what type of profession you are working with, and more importantly, whether or not your interests always come first."
That conviction is at the core of how Bryan defines his role at FFA Wealth. Being an advocate, in his view, is not a marketing line on a website. It is a daily commitment to making sure his clients understand what they are working with, what their options actually look like, and where their advisor’s loyalty truly sits. He believes the people who trust him with their financial lives deserve a relationship rooted in clarity rather than assumptions, and that conviction shapes every conversation he has, from a first meeting all the way through the longest standing client relationships in his book.
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Bryan has called the Charleston area home for fifteen years now, and the Lowcountry has become the backdrop for the life he and his family love most. When he is not at FFA Wealth, you can usually find him at a game somewhere. He follows local sports of every variety, from professional matchups to youth rec leagues, and if your kid happens to be playing somewhere in the area, there is a good chance Bryan is in the stands cheering them on.
The biggest influence in his life is his wife, Meredith, and Bryan describes her as a model for taking care of others, including him and their son. There is a quiet steadiness in the way he talks about her, the kind of partnership that anchors everything else.

There is also one detail about Bryan that almost no one guesses on the first try. Long before he was helping clients build wealth, he was studying to be a teacher. Bryan was a Music Education major in college, and looking back, you can see the through line clearly. The teacher’s heart has always been there. It just eventually found a different classroom.
For Bryan, faith is not a separate compartment of life. It is the foundation underneath all of it, and it shapes how he leads, how he listens, and how he carries the weight of the work he does for his clients.

"My belief grounds me when things are difficult. While it shows up in many different places, it is my rock for finding the purpose behind all occurrences. Challenges grow our strength while the victories validate our purpose."
That perspective is part of what drew him to Charleston Business Exchange in the first place, and it is one of the reasons he has felt so at home around the table since his first meeting.
For Bryan, Charleston Business Exchange represents relationship building done the right way. He is grateful to the leadership team for the invitation to join, and he believes deeply in the value the group will continue to bring to business professionals and the broader Charleston community alike.
His favorite part of CBX so far has been the Spiritual Moments at the start of each meeting, broken down in an educational way that makes them feel meaningful and relevant to the workweek ahead. He also has a heartfelt appreciation for fellow CBX member Shannon Hurst of Scopes & Standards, and is genuinely excited to watch her continued growth and success in the season ahead.
There is a thread that runs through every part of how Bryan moves through the world, whether he is sitting across from a new client at FFA Wealth, cheering from the stands at a youth rec game, or pulling up a chair at the CBX table on Tuesday afternoon. It comes down to consistency, and to the kind of trust that gets built one kept promise at a time. To him, community in business is a professional family of people you can count on to do things a certain way, and the most reliable way to earn that trust is also the simplest. You do what you say you are going to do.
That is the standard Bryan brings to every client conversation at FFA Wealth, the way he carries himself at home with Meredith and their son, and the spirit he brings to every CBX meeting. It is the through line of everything that came before, from his early days teaching financial wellness to his retail teams, through his pivot into wealth advising, and into the work he is doing now to help his clients build lives they actually want to live. We are so grateful to have Bryan as part of the CBX family, and we cannot wait to see all that this next season holds for him.
